Today, Okmulgee,Oklahoma is home to one of the oldest Black Rodeos in the country.

During the weekend of August 8-9, 2008; 20,000+ rodeo fans will converge on this small town for the 53rd Annual Okmulgee Invitational Rodeo.
Come on out and enjoy the parade through downtown Okmulgee where over 100 Trail riding clubs from across the country will be participating.
Steer Wrestling and Barrel Racing jackpots will be going on all weekend long. Cowboys and Cowgirls from across the country come here to compete in this 2 day event.

Here are a few things you need to know:

If you plan on camping out during the rodeo, you must park your trucks and trailers outside the arena.

There are NO Hookups available.

For a good spot, you'll need to be there by Thurs. night Aug. 7.

Bring everything with you (shop before you park.) Once you park it is difficult to impossible get out until Sunday morning.

Only competing Cowboys & Cowgirls are allowed to park their trucks and trailers inside the arena beginning at 6:00AM Friday morning.

If you are bringing a horse(s) to ride in the Parade, it is best to bring water for your horse(s)with you. It sometimes becomes difficult to enter the arena for water.

For those of you looking for hotels, you'll need to make a reservation as soon as possible. The hotels in Okmulgee and Henryetta sell out quickly. (Usually by June)
However, you can find hotels in Tulsa (30 mile from Okmulgee).

Get here early for a good seat.

Plenty of great food and cold drinks.

Rodeo starts at 8:00 PM Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are $10.00 per adult each night and $5.00 per child age 12 & under.
